Clean & Safe
-
The goal of the program is to increase usability of assessed parcels and address issues which discourage property owners, tenants, and customers from visiting assessed parcels. Safety and security services may include dedicated efforts to improve safety in Downtown. Programs may include, but are not limited to:
•installation of security cameras
•additional Morgan Hill Police Department (MHPD) patrols
•expanded MHPD Cadet Program services
•supplemental private security patrols
-
The Clean & Safe program will make the MHPBID cleaner, more accessible, and more attractive to potential tenants and customers, and a safer place to do business through enhanced maintenance services. A regular schedule would be established for most of the maintenance services. Some maintenance services could be provided on an as-needed basis, while others could be provided on a regular basis. Maintenance services may include, but are not limited to:
• Installation of decorative lights;
• Regular litter removal services, including garbage, debris, and leaves;
• Removal of bulky items and street sweeping services;
• On-demand graffiti removal services;
• Washing sidewalks adjacent to assessed properties on an as needed basis; and
• Maintenance of landscaping, including the trimming and planting of trees and flowers.
-
The MHPBID will provide supplemental improvements, maintenance, and activities that are above and beyond those provided by the City and other government agencies. None of the services to be provided by the MHPBID are provided by the City or other government agencies.
Capital Improvements and Art Installations
-
Capital improvements will be funded to make the MHPBID more accessible, inviting, and useable. In order to pay for large-scale improvements, this portion of the budget may be held in reserve until such time as the balance is sufficient to pay for the improvement. Small-scale improvements may include but are not limited to the following:
•landscaping features
•trash receptacles
•removal of concrete benches
•removal of raised planters
-
MHPBID funds could be leveraged to create a unique sense of place, which may include ongoing installation and maintenance including:
•twinkle lighting on street trees
•rooftop lighting
•wayfinding signage
•seasonal banners
•enhanced parking lot and street lighting
•parking lot maintenance
Marketing & Special Events
-
Marketing would be provided to create an image of the MHPBID as a single destination with a set of unique opportunities. Further, the marketing program garners positive media coverage of the MHPBID and its services and attempts to improve the overall image of the MHPBID. The marketing program may include, but is not limited to:
•feature advertising
•direct mail
•special events
•promotions
-
This would include efforts around the enhancement of existing events or the creation of new event programming.
